State Association Support

The unified voice State Healthcare Associations offer the providers in their respective state has never been more important.  The challenges below require strategy and action to protect our profession and support the membership of the association.

  • Potential cuts to Medicaid
  • Increasing Medicare Advantage enrollment, reducing reimbursement
  • Potential Medicare cuts and penalties
  • Public and Media perception of member facilities

Having a clear strategy to address the current and future challenges is imperative to delivering value to your members.

Mark Klyczek has served in State Associations in New York and, most recently, in Virginia.  Mark served on the association board for the Virginia Health Care Association as a board member, secretary/treasurer, and vice chair.  While on the board in Virginia Mark assisted in the development of the Value Based Purchasing Program,  the staffing mandate legislation, various other pieces of legislation, and was the lead provider in developing a provider owned network in partnership with AHCA.

Mark Klyczek Consulting can provide value through fractional work for projects, strategy development, and ongoing consultation.  The following are a few ways we can support your State Association, which will increase your capacity to provide value for your members.

  • Speaking on relevant topics at annual conferences, webinars, and podcasts, and providing articles and content for newsletters
  • Medicaid Rate Strategy:  Developing strategies around Medicaid rates to preserve funding and receive reimbursement for positive results
  • Provider Owned Network: Assist with the development of a Provider Owned Network, along with creating plans based on the contractual data, negotiating favorable terms, and continually revising the payor relationship to deliver value to the members, payors, and Residents being served.  Being an independent operational voice between the State Association, member facilities, payors and provider owned network convener.
  • Value Based Purchasing:  Assist with developing a VBP program in your state, revising an existing program with new measures and metrics, and assisting members in excelling in the program to be rewarded for delivering outstanding care.
  • Workforce Development:  Partnering to assess the staffing needs in your state, identifying the largest gaps, developing grant proposals and proposals for state funding, administering the grants, developing apprenticeship programs, and developing growth opportunities within our profession.  Also partnering to implement strategies for improving employee retention and reducing turnover.

Quality Improvement Resource: Assisting member facilities in developing QAPI plans, writing effective plans of correction, assisting with directed plans of correction, survey preparation, and improving CMS 5-star ratings.
