With more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, Mark Klyczek has built a career transforming organizations into models of operational excellence, quality, and financial stability. A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Mark most recently served as President and CEO of Virginia Health Services, where he led seven skilled nursing facilities, two assisted living centers, and a full continuum of home health, hospice, and pharmacy operations.

Throughout his career, Mark has specialized in improving performance across long-term care, home care, oncology, hospital administration, and physician practice management. His reputation in Virginia and across the East Coast has been earned through a data-driven approach that combines compassion, accountability, and measurable results. Mark’s leadership is rooted in one guiding belief — when you empower people and clarify priorities, quality and financial outcomes naturally improve.

Mark Klyczek Consulting was founded to help healthcare organizations strengthen their operations, stabilize leadership, and achieve sustainable growth. Drawing on decades of executive experience, Mark partners directly with facility owners, boards, and leadership teams to create solutions that improve both performance and care outcomes.

From developing comprehensive payment strategies and value-based purchasing models, to building Institutional Special Needs Plans (ISNPs) and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) relationships, Mark helps clients maximize reimbursement while elevating quality. His consulting practice also focuses on workforce development, interim administration, and quality improvement programs — ensuring that every engagement delivers both immediate impact and lasting capability within the organization.

Virginia Accomplishments

  • Top Line revenue growth of $30M (35%) compared to 2019 (pre-pandemic).
  • Partnered with DaVita Kidney Care to operate in-facility dialysis in two facilities increasing census and net income.
  • Grew relationship with United Health Care from $750K annually to $2.3M annually. 
  • Assisted in the development of a new state-wide Medicaid Value Based Purchasing program with DMAS.
  • Achieved the highest quality scores and Medicaid reimbursement for a multi-site operator in Virginia.
  • Earned 7 national quality awards between 2024 – 2025 from the American Health Care Association.
  • Assisted in the development of a state-wide provider owned network in collaboration with AHCA.
  • Utilized a national workforce development grant and became a registered apprenticeship program.
  • Nursing turnover improved to 40%, decreasing 12.5% and exceeded local, state and national averages.

New York Accomplishments

  • Restructured the Quality program resulting in 13 consecutive quarters of quality improvement across 6 facilities, with multiple facilities improving to 5 stars and 4 stars overall.
  • Received the New York Hospital Association (HANYS) Pinnacle Quality Award, and Greater Rochester Quality Gold award.
  • Created an Administrator in Training program which has produced 6 licensed candidates in 2 years.
  • Implemented EPIC across 6 LTC facilities totaling 900 beds, dramatically improving clinical integration.
  • Achieved initial Pathway to Excellence designation, first designation in NYS, and 7th nationally. 
  • Received $600K in Workforce Development grants to support C.N.A. and LPN programs.

Mark has also served as Vice Chair of the Virginia Health Care Association Board, contributed to national conferences, and advised healthcare leaders on quality, workforce, and financial performance improvement strategies nationwide.
